A disappointed suitor

 

 

Sergeant Percy George Pinkerton of the Australian 8th Field Company Engineers was so disappointed having missed an appointment with 'Clara' that he sent her this postcard. He wrote:

Dear Clara. I was very sorry I did not see you last Saturday night, especially after riding down and loosing 2ozs of sweat. Never mind. I hope you enjoyed your music lesson. I suppose you are getting pretty good at it by now. Can your music teacher sing or has he a musical voice. I don't suppose you lost much sweat, rather the other way I daresay, you had to be warmed.
